58th National Film Awards

The 58th National Film Awards have been announced. The National Award for best actor is shared by two prominent actors of Malayalam and Tamil film industry.  Malayalam actor Salim Kumar and Tamil cinema’s Dhanush shared this prestigious award for their work in “Adaminde Makan Abu” and “Aadukalam” respectively.

The National Awards for best actress is shared by Marathi actress Mitalee Jagtap Paradharand Tamil actress Sharanya Ponvannan for their work in the movie “Baboo Band Baaja” and “Thenmerkku Paruvakkatru” respectively. The award for supporting actress goes to Smt. Sukumari. The National award for best feature film goes to the Malayalam movie “Adaminte Makan Abu”.

The award for the Best Director goes to the Tamil film director Vetrimaran for the film “Aadukalam”. Best Cinematographer has been awarded to Madhu Ambat, while best Audiography award goes to Ishqiya.

The Hindi Movie “Dabangg” starring Salman Khan which was the debut production venture of Arbaaz Khan won the National Award for wholesome entertainment. The Indira Gandhi award for best debut film of a director was presented to the Marathi film named “Baboo Band Baaja”. The Bengali film “Moner Manush” won the Nargis Dutt award for the category best feature film and is directed by Goutam Ghose. The best makeup artist was also for this film and is awarded to Vikram Gaikwad.

The National award for the Best music direction goes to ‘Ishqiya’ and ‘Adaminte Makan Abu’ with Vishal Bhardwaj and Issak Thomas Kottakapally as directors of the films respectively. The awards for best singers are won by Suresh Wadekar and Rekha Bharadwaj.

Film veteran K Balachander who have taken efforts to revive Tamil cinema during the 1970s, was awarded with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2010. Rajnikanth starrer “Enthiran” won the award for the best production design. The film also got the awards for best Special Effects and is honored to V Srinivas M Mohan.
