Kollengode is a town in Palakkad district covered with large paddy fields. There is an ancient Vishnu temple and a Palace in this place. This town got its name from the Malayalam word ‘Kollen’ which means blacksmith. It is because this community is seen here in large numbers. A tributary of Bharathapuzha river called as Gayathri river flows through this place.
Some of the main attractions of this place include the temples, festivals, Pollachi market, palace etc. The Kollengode palace is one of the main attractions here that is built in the traditional Kerala architecture. There are murals in this palace which is very magnificent. Most of the exhibits that are displayed here are obtained from the forests of Thrissur and Wayanad.
The tourists to this place get engaged in trekking activities near locations such as Seethakundu and Govindamalai. The Nelliyampathi hills are also near to this place.
