District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) is set up with the aim of exploiting the tourism capability of Kerala. They do so in co-ordination with various Government offices, agencies and other people who are interested in travel and tourism field. They give importance to the promotion of tourism which includes marketing of local man made products, improving its quality, taking steps for certification of the products, improve sanitation etc.
District Tourism Promotion Councils provide help to the tourists coming to Kerala. They provide information such as festival dates, easiest route to a particular place, specialty of a place, major tourist destinations and other such details. DTPC’s are there in every district and so it is easy to get information of a place in a particular district from the DTPC in that district. DTPC also conduct tours.
There is a governing body for the DTPC and the Chairman of this body is the District Collector and the members include officers and tourism experts that are selected by the government.
